'The leadership of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is strong' - Quality Assurance Review comment from review report - November 2021
Welcome to Reception, also known as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
A message from the class teacher - "My name is Mrs. Messenger and I am your reception class teacher. I have been working at Rodborough for over 14 years, specialising in teaching in Early Years. My previous experiences include working in pre schools and nurseries as nursery nurse, as well as supporting other teachers as an EYFS Advanced Skills Teacher. I am passionate about developing a love of learning in young children and providing a nurturing, safe and aspirational environment within which all children can share, learn and achieve together. More recently, I have taken on the Deputy Head role. I cannot wait to meet your children in the future."
During your time in Reception, you will meet lots of new friends, learn many new skills and grow in confidence every day.
In Reception, we all enjoy doing our learning together, both in the classroom and outdoors. We have lots of learning in our indoor and outdoor classrooms, which help to make you a better learner and achieve your potential.
In Reception, we know that learning cannot take place until a child has good personal, social and emotional skills. We encourage sharing, taking turns and finding compromise with others. We have sessions, where we talk, listen and show sensitivity to our friends. Mrs. Messenger leads our daily PSHE sessions, where we talk about our own lives and learn about the lives of others.
Children grow in self-confidence and independence in our Reception class and learn how to follow the school rules, manage their behaviour and form positive relationships with others.
