Learning together, sharing together and achieving together
Rodborough is a school where everyone works in partnership so ensure that all children can be the best they can be.
Our school ethos provides all our children with:
- a positive, happy and caring environment where all children have equal opportunities;
- a stimulating learning environment which values and encourages self-esteem, curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning, combined with a sense of wonder for the world around us;
- opportunities for pupils to play a positive role in contributing to their class, school and wider communities;
- a culture of respect, where expectations for children’s behaviour is high and all adults model good listening skills, team work, respect and behaviour;
- agreed standards of behaviour throughout the whole school which are promoted by everyone;
- individual and group praise for good behaviour choices.
The Government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, and these values were reiterated in 2014. At Rodborough these values are reinforced regularly through ‘Rodborough Values’ which support, drive and praise the behaviour of everyone in our school community. Our values are described as positive statements and each are accompanied by a picture co-designed with the children:
Democracy: “I am fair.”
The Rule of Law: “I know right from wrong.”
Individual Liberty: “I can think for myself.”
Mutual Respect: “I respect others.”
Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs: “I accept others’ beliefs.”
