Year 5 visit to Houses of Parliament
Year 5 spent an amazing day in London. First stop was a visit to the Science Museum where they spent time in the Exploring Space Gallery. Later they made their way across to the Houses of Parliament where they were treated to a behind the scenes guided tour which also included a visit to the Houses of Lords and Commons to listen to some politicians debating!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our family planting session. Everybody had a lovely time in the sunshine planting their Gladioli bullbs.
Rodborough Rowing Team
The Rodborough Rowing Team had an excellent time at their competition and demonstrated outstanding teamwork and support for each offer. We are proud to announce that they finished in first place! Well done to all children who attended and to all of Years 5 and 6 who completed the rowing lessons at school.
Police Team Visit to Reception
It was really exciting to meet some of our local police team; PCSO Jo, Police Officer Amy and Police Officer Ben. Reception learnt lots about how they keep us all safe and what to do if something is worrying us.
Y6 Mock Trials
Y6 visited the Stroud District Council Offices to take part in Mock Trials. Mock Trials are an opportunity for primary schools to take on the roles within a magistrate court (including the defendant and witnesses) and experience the first step in the British Justice System.
Viking Experience Day
Year 3 had a fantasic Viking experience day in which they played games, handled some Viking artefacts and weapons, tried on some clothes and acted out some stories and battles. It was an action packed, information filled day.
Young Voices
Year 6 recently attended the much anticipated Young Voices Concert in Birmingham. Having the opportunity to sing and dance with professionals was incredible. With torches lit and t-shirts on, they welcomed the audience along with 6000 other children in the arena, they sang, they danced, they laughed!
Forest Green Rovers Visit
Thanks to Year 6 FGR ambassadors, we were able to organise for 4 football scholars from Forest Green Rovers to come to school. They began their visit by holding a whole school assembly and then came out to play at breaktime. It was the biggest game of football we have had!
After a fantastic time outside they delivered a PSHE lesson in Year 5. We are looking forward to future visits.
PCSO Visits
It has been wonderful to have class visits from our PCSO Amy Webb. So far Years 3, 4 and 5 have welcomed PC Webb and visits to other classes are in the diary.
Sketching Walk to the Stroud Canal
Year 4 kicked off the start to the Academic Year with a sketching walk along the Stroud Canal. The children stopped at various places to observe and record the environment around them. It was such a treat to get out and about again!
Fire Service Visit
The Fire Service came to school to meet with Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. This was a very exciting visit as the firefighters came into each of those classes to teach fire safety, as well as bringing a fire engine onto the top playground – hearing the sirens and spraying water was great!
Y6 Learning trip to Canal Costwold Trust
Y6 enjoyed a trip to the Stroud Canal Costwold Trust, learning about the building of our local canal, its decline and restoration. A real highlight was not only going on a canal boat but being able to explore the newest boat for construction on the canal.
Rodborough Fort
Children enjoyed a trip up to our local Rodborough Fort and did some sketching. They have loved learning all about Rodborough, looking at old photos of our school and what it would be like to learn here over 100 years ago.
Stay Safe Initiative & Anti Bullying Week
The Stay Safe Initiative workshop, delivered by Richard Pomfrett was a great success and the children enjoyed learning about how to identify bulliying and how to stay safe in the playground.
Richard had some wonderful things to say about our school,
'I was extremely impressed with everyone's attitude and enthusiasm throughout our sessions - including the staff. It was a pleasure visiting you all and so lovely to spend the day in such a friendly and welcoming school.'
Visit by Paralympic Cyclist - Will Bjergfelt
We were really excited to meet Will Bjergfelt, a Paralympic Cyclist. Children took part in lots of circuit-style activities with him and talked about the importance of resilience, physical and mental health.
Remembrance Day
We came together to mark Remembrance Day as a community on our top playground. Pupils read a poem and observed the two minute silence followed by the Last Post played on the Coronet. It was a very moving time of reflection. Pupils learnt about the meaning of different coloured poppies.
