Visitors to our school

We invite an array of guest speakers into school, from authors to Olympic athletes, who help to nurture future aspirations. Children can gain an insight into what is possible and can be achieved beyond the classroom.

Year 5 Severn Trent 'Water Bus' visit

When the Severn Trent Water Bus visited our school, we had a fantastic day learning all about the important work that goes into providing clean water to our homes. We discovered the many different jobs involved in water services, including engineers, scientists and technicians. The children became scientists themselves by carrying out tests to investigate where water pollution was happening and how it could be solved. We also enjoyed playing interactive games and learned how to look after our pipes by thinking carefully about what should and should not be flushed away. It was a fun and engaging experience that taught us all about the importance of water and protecting the environment.

Year 1 Author Visit

Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic visit from Otto’s dad, Tom Sears, the co-author of A Tree Is a Time Machine. Tom kindly shared his new book with us and talked about how trees can help us understand time. The children were completely engaged and loved learning about how we can look to nature to discover the past. It was a wonderful way to bring our science and reading learning to life.

A Tree is a Time Machine, ‘is an antidote to uncertain times, and the perfect gift for anyone who has ever felt like they just want the world to slow down’. Available in all good bookshops!

Trees are so old. Older than buildings.

I loved learning about trees and time.

Did you know stones are older than dinosaurs?
