Rodborough Community Primary School

Physical Education

As Subject Leader for Physical Education, I am proud to champion a curriculum that is energetic, inclusive and inspiring for every child in our school. At its heart, our PE provision is built on the belief that physical activity should spark joy, build confidence and develop lifelong healthy habits.

Using the excellent Get Set 4 PE scheme, we deliver a carefully sequenced and progressive curriculum that enables all pupils to develop fundamental skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching, alongside balance, agility and coordination. Children experience a wide range of sports and activities, from team games and gymnastics to dance and outdoor adventurous learning, ensuring breadth, challenge and excitement in every lesson.

Our approach is rooted in the aims of the National Curriculum, where pupils are encouraged to compete, collaborate and strive for their personal best . Through high-quality teaching, ongoing assessment and pupil voice, we ensure that learning is purposeful, progressive and tailored to our children .

Beyond lessons, we celebrate sport through clubs, competitions and enrichment opportunities, nurturing teamwork, resilience and respect. At our school, PE is not just a subject—it is a powerful vehicle for developing happy, healthy and confident learners.
