History
Studying History is crucial for children of primary school age.
Learning about the past is absolutely essential for all children no matter their background and exposing students to historical events, figures and cultures provides crucial knowledge that helps shape their perspectives on society.
History education also promotes empathy and respect for others by highlighting shared human experiences across different eras and regions. It is essential for appreciating diversity in the modern world as preparing children for adulthood by building critical thinking that are transferable across all subjects.
At the same time, history helps pupils to make sense of their own experiences, and of the world they inhabit. The study of history is complex and at Rodborough Primary School we constantly evolve our teaching implementing new approaches, look through new lenses and new evidence. Every pupil is entitled to encounter with the richness of the past and the complexity of historical enquiry.
